Are you up for the Challenge?
Racing Tauranga Punter of the Year 2019
Having a punt is an essential part of any day at the races. Add a bit of friendly competition and epic prizes to the mix and you have the Racing Tauranga Punter of the Year. Held annually as part of the Kiwifruit Cup Day, the challenge brings together punters of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Whether you are a hardened racing veteran or a first-time rookie, the Punter of the Year is a sure thing if you’re looking to dabble in the ‘Sport of Kings’ while having a laugh and (hopefully) backing some winners!
The competition is being held on Saturday 22 June at Kiwifruit Cup Day. Contestants must place a minimum bet of $70 on each race (so that’s a betting fund of $560 for an 8-race programme). All progress, whether a win or a loss, is recorded. There’s a leader board in the lounge updated after each race, so you can keep up with how everyone is tracking – and see how you are stacking up against the competition.
The Prize Pool
Leader after race 3: $500 cash
Highest total turnover: Hospitality package for four at a Racing Tauranga meeting valued at $500
Second prize: Free entry into the 2020 Racing Tauranga Punter of the Year PLUS your $560 betting fund
First prize: Free entry into the 2019 NZ Punter of the Year at Hawke’s Bay including your betting fund, plus one night’s accommodation AND $1,000 cash!
That is some serious loot in the kete! And with spot prizes running throughout the day too, you are definitely in for some freebies.
For only $25 per person, or $50 for a team of two, you receive:
- Exclusive use of the Tokyo Lounge – a premier lounge with direct track views, air conditioning, tote operators and Trackside TVs
- Lunch and afternoon tea
- Discounted cash bar with $4 beers – nice!
Before the competition kicks off everything will be explained to you in full detail. The staff running the show are seasoned punters, not to mention punter-of-the-year-running-pros, so will be able to answer all your questions. Do have a read of the full terms and conditions before signing up – failure to comply with the rules could result in a disqualification, so it does pay to get familiar with the fine print. Note: On the day registration is open till 11am in the Tokyo Lounge.
