This event is an official qualifying round for the Ned Prix de Fashion 2025 at Ellerslie Racecourse at the inaugural Champions Day on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
Our overall winner gets automatic entry to the Ned Prix de Fashion 2025!

Our categories are:
- Tauranga Crossing Best Dressed - Fabulous frocks are synonymous with racing. Add stunning headwear and gorgeous accessories for timeless raceday elegance. This category is open to everyone who rocks a frock. Prizes and sashes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd!
- Tauranga Crossing Best Suited - The classic suit has been a go-to for racegoers across the ages. Add personal touches and a modern twist to stand out from the crowd. This category is open to everyone who respects the tailored sophistication of a suit. Prizes and sashes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd!
Please note all entrants are eligible for the two awards below:
Tauranga Crossing Outstanding Headwear Award: This award is judged across all categories and recognises the contestant with the most eye-catching raceday headwear. Prizes and sashes for 1st and 2nd place!
Tauranga Crossing Supreme Winner: Overall supreme winner judged from the winners of all categories. Prize includes a $1,000 voucher from Tauranga Crossing and automatic entry to the Ned Prix de Fashion at Ellerslie Racecourse on Champions Day, Saturday 8 March 2005 where there is a $15,000 prize pool for the overall winner.
Prize pool valued at over $5,000.

Judging Criteria:
- Appropriateness of the outfit for the category, event and season.
- Originality and confidence.
- Attention to detail with accessories.
- Appreciation of current fashion trends.
- Grooming and deportment.
- Headwear.
Timeline:
- On the day registration will be open from 11.00 am up until the Race 1.
- All pre-registered contestants must still check in prior to Race 1.
- Heats start immediately after Race 1.
- The Supreme Winner will be announced before Race 5.
- Registration and the competition are both being held on The Terrace in the Silson Stand.
- Times may change and contestants will be notified but are solely responsible for being on time for their category heats and finals.

- To the extent of any inconsistency in the information on how to enter and any other details and instructions, these terms and conditions prevail. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
- All entrants must be aged 18 years or over as of the date of the competition.
- Staff and Board of Directors of Racing Tauranga, and/or their immediate family, are ineligible to enter.
- Prizes are not transferrable and are not redeemable for cash.
- All voucher prizes are subject to the rems and conditions of the company the voucher is issued for.
- The wearer of the winning outfit is deemed the prize-winner. The winner will be notified on the day by public announcement.
- The judges’ decision is final and binding – no correspondence will be entered.
- Failure to appear at the allocated time for judging and/or at the semi-final, final or presentation(s) will result in disqualification.
- If the race meeting is abandoned, the event may be cancelled, and a substitute event may not be offered.
- Entry in the competition is deemed as consent by winners to appear in a reasonable amount of publicity including use and publication of photos (either by the Club or any other third party to which it is licensed).
- All photographs of entrants taken on-course on the day of competition become the property of Racing Tauranga and may be used for future advertising and publicity purposes and may also be licensed and approved to NZTR for its day-to-day advertising and promotional use.
- Subject to any applicable law which cannot be excluded, the Promoter and any other person or party associated with the promotion shall not be liable for any loss, damage or injury suffered, sustained or caused (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss or loss arising from negligence), arising directly or indirectly out of or in connections with the promotion or any prize.
