Get ready to strut your style — the countdown is on for Tauranga Crossing Fashions in the Field 2025!

Racing Tauranga is thrilled to unveil this year’s judging panel, a trio of talented and fashion-savvy individuals who bring a wealth of experience and flair to the stage. From the worlds of equestrian excellence and high-end hair artistry to the glamour of racing fashion, our judges, Leesa Banicevich, Jason Davies and Janelle Burnside, are ready to spot the looks that turn heads and capture the spirit of raceday style.

Meet our 2025 judges:

Leesa Banicevich
An accomplished equestrian, Leesa Banicevich has made her mark as both an exhibitor and breeder of successful show ponies and sport horses across Australasia. With multiple Fashion in the Field titles at top-level equestrian events and accreditation as a New Zealand RAS judge, Leesa’s eye for presentation and polish is well established. Over the past decade, she has channelled that same passion into breeding thoroughbreds, expanding her influence within the racing industry while maintaining her deep connection to the show ring.

Jason Davies

A former L’Oréal Ambassador and Creative Director for Frocks & Divas, Jason has spent more than three decades shaping New Zealand’s hair and fashion scene — earning multiple national and international accolades, including recognition in Paris. Returning once again to the Tauranga Crossing Fashions in the Field judging panel, Jason brings an expert eye for design, creativity, fabric and form.

Janelle Burnside
A familiar face on the racing fashion circuit, Janelle Burnside has spent the past decade dressing up and travelling across New Zealand — and beyond — to compete, MC and judge at Fashion in the Field events. This marks her fourth year on the Tauranga judging panel, an event she always looks forward to. By day, Janelle works part-time for Parliamentary Service and is studying towards a Bachelor of Law — bringing sharp negotiation skills and a keen sense of fairness to her judging role. She’ll be looking for creative, colourful outfits that showcase individuality, personality and, most importantly, the fun of race day fashion.
