Top 5 Event Trends for 2025
We've rounded up our take on the 'Top 5' event trends we're expecting in 2025. Check them out and see if you can incorporate them into your next function!
1. Green is the new gold standard
In 2025, sustainability is going to become even more of a focus and the event-world is striving to keep up. Companies are prioritising environmental responsibility and the events they hold are no exception!
You can approach this in several ways at your event, from sourcing locally produced food, using sustainable materials for decorations, sending digital invitations or having paperless agendas. Even the smallest step in this direction can go a long way – and it shows your attendees you’re trying!
2. Small but mighty
Bigger isn’t always better—especially in 2025, when micro-events are gaining popularity.
These smaller events focus on quality over quantity, allowing companies to create highly targeted and meaningful experiences for their attendees.
Micro-events are bucking the conference trend and cater to specific audiences, whether it's an exclusive group of industry experts or a niche market. Here at Tauranga Racecourse Event Centre we have plenty of spaces that can cater to an intimate group. Try our Winners Circle space – more here.
(Psst – still thinking big? Luckily we have plenty of options for large events too!)
What is it about small events that is trending? Because smaller, specialised business events allow for more tailored content and genuine connections between attendees. Plus, these events are often easier to manage, more cost-effective, and provide a higher return on investment for hosts and participants.
3. Accessibility
2025 will see new standards set at events for accessibility – it’s so important that everyone feels welcome from start to finish, in all ways!
Event planners are making accessibility a top priority and you can do the same. Try incorporating features like closed captioning, sign language interpreters, wheelchair-accessible venues, and virtual attendance options for those who can’t be there in person.
It can only be good if people feel welcome and supported at your event!
Have a chat to our team about your accessibility requirements and we will support your vision for the event.
4. Personalisation
Personalisation is becoming widespread everywhere. Think targeted ads, customised emails and the raft of personalisation experiences we get online now. So it’s only natural that tailored experiences are what attendees are coming to expect in real life too.
There are heaps of ways to provide a customised experience to your guests. You could try:
- Using their name in all event communication from invite to event day
- Ask attendees to give their opinion on speakers, format, content – this will help them be more invested, but also gives you valuable insights!
- Create an ‘event guide’ with directions, restaurants, coffee recommendations, accommodation etc
- Provide attendees with a point of contact that’s responsive and feels personal – try not to use an AI chat bot if you can!
5. It’s all about the experience
The digital business world is here to stay – Teams, Slack, Zoom – all of these tools mean we can work and chat remotely but there’s still a lot to be said for in-person experiences especially in the event world.
A focus on experiential learning is a key pillar to creating unforgettable events. It is your chance to engage with your attendees on a deeper level, fostering connections, and leaving a lasting impression.
Give some thought to hands-on workshops where interactivity is key. Facilitate guests chance to networks – connections are more meaningful when made in person. And remember to put attendees experience at the forefront of all your decision-making. It will be worth it in the long run!
